Princess Pageant


The NSMSG Princess Pageant competition consists of female participants within the ages 16 to 21. It is open to all aboriginal females within the Atlantic Provinces. The events related to the Pageant will take place at the We’koqma’q Entertainment Grounds. There will be an entry fee of $500 per contestant.

The age category for participation will be an open division with ages 16-21

Number of Athletes
There is a limit of two (2) contestants allowed from each community. The remaining spaces will be opened to others on the waiting list.

Number of Coaches
It is recommended that each community have at least one (1) coach/chaperone.

General Rules

  • Contestants must be between the ages of 16-21 years of age.
  • Contestants will need the full payment of $500 on July 31, 2019. No Exceptions.
  • Contestants must be young girls of aboriginal descent.
  • Contestants must be attending school with good effort and good attendance.
  • Contestants must have knowledge of their cultural values.
  • Contestants must be available the week of the NSMSG, involvement in NSMSG sport activities will be considered.
  • Contestants must present themselves with dignity and be presentable at all times.
  • When Miss NSMSG is requested to attend a function and is unable to attend the first runner up is to attend in her place and the 2nd runner up will be approached if the 1st runner up is unable to attend.

*Host community will determine the rules and qualifications in addition to those described above.*

Competition Format

The competition format will be determined by the number of entries. Each entry fee will be $500.


All officials will be designated and approved by the Host Community.

  1. Completed registration form
  2. Proof of age/ancestry (Indian Status Card Required)
  3. Talent
  4. Regalia and/or formal wear
  5. $500 entry fee

Competition Rules

Contestants will be judged on the following: Personality, Intellect, Poise, Talent, Ability to communicate with people, Community and charity interests, Public speaking, Interview, Stage presence, Dedication and commitment, Biography, Sincerity, Honesty, Sense of Humour, Morals and ethics, Manners, Promptness, Questions, etc.

Winning Contestant

The Winner will receive:

  • Crown & Sash
  • 2020 Qualifier for Miss/Ms Maritime International
  • $2,500
  • Bouquet of flowers
  • Miscellaneous gifts from sponsors

1st Runner-Up will receive:

  • $1,500
  • Bouquet of flowers
  • Miscellaneous gifts from sponsors

2nd Runner-Up will receive:

  • $1,000
  • Bouquet of flowers
  • Miscellaneous gifts from sponsors

At the end of the competition, the successful contestant will be crowned Miss Nova Scotia Mi’kmaw Summer Games Queen for a one (1) year term.
